The vocal artistry of soprano Sasha Leinster has gained the admiration of audiences and critics alike. Known for her poignant portrayals of Cleopatra in Handel's Giulio Césare, Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck, and Monica in The Medium, she has also performed the roles of Gilda in Rigoletto with Orchestra of Saint Peter by the Sea and Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos at Merkin Concert Hall. Opera News, in its review of this production, remarked: "There was much to enjoy in the sweet soprano of Sasha Leinster."
Among the highlights of her 2010/2011 season was her appearance in Douglas Townsend's "Social Networking Concert," where she performed Andrea Clearfield's "A Reminiscence Sing," for soprano, clarinet, and piano. She has also appeared in collaboration with famed Flamenco dancer Pilar Rioja, in Carlos Surinach's, "Romance, Oracion y Saeta," at the Repertorio Español of New York. She has performed leading roles with Opera Company of Brooklyn, Temple Opera Theater, the Rockland County Choral Society, Ensemble du Monde, and members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. An accomplished concert soloist with orchestra, she has been featured in Bach's St. John's Passion and Magnificat, the C Minor Mass and Requiem of Mozart, the Messiah, the Fauré Requiem, and Rutter's Gloria. She has most recently appeared in recital in London and Oxford.
Other recent performances include soloist in Mozart's Regina Coeli, Haydn's Heligmesse, and Mozart's Laudate Dominum with The Choral Society of the Hamptons and appearances on the Klavierhaus, Tenri Cultural Institute, and the Donnell Library Center's recital series, featuring songs by Brahms, Schubert, R. Strauss, and Poulenc.
